Established in 2010, ViperBots Robotics is an award-winning robotics program of Vandegrift High School (VHS) in Austin, Texas. Our primary focus is to develop and educate the rising generation of entrepreneurs and leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The organization promotes leadership, teamwork and mentoring others. Through its participation in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), the ViperBots support young women and men in STEM initiatives and strives to exemplify a spirit of “gracious professionalism” in all its pursuits.

Established in 2010 with five student participants!
In its inaugural 2011-2012 competitive season, our first team of 13 members placed 18th at the FTC World Championship.
In the 2012-2013 second season the ViperBots expanded into 5 teams, with each winning multiple awards, including a 3rd place finish for team 4546 at the FTC World Championships.
In the 2013-2014 third season the ViperBots expanded into 6 teams and received a 3rd place finish for team 6299 at the FTC World Championship.
During the 2014-2015 competitive season, the ViperBots broke a Texas record and sent 2 teams to the FTC World Championships – teams 6210 and 6299. Team 6299 again finished in 3rd place and became the first Texas team to ever win a judging award: The PTC Design Award!
During 2015-2016, 2 ViperBots teams advanced to the FTC World Championships – 6209 Venom and 6299 QuadX. QuadX was the 4th seed in the Edison Division and again won the prestigious PTC Design Award! Venom went on to claim the Texas UIL Robotics State Championship title!

During 2016-2017, we added 11503 Hyperfang to the ViperBots family increasing our FTC teams to 7. We also sent 3 teams (6209, 6299, and 7161) to the Super Regionals in Athens, Georgia. 6299 received the PTC Design Award and 7161 was the 1st pick of the winning alliance at the event. Both teams advanced to Worlds and joined 4546 making ViperBots the first organization to ever send 3 teams to worlds. 6299 won the PTC Design Award at Worlds for the third consecutive year. Also working together at UIL, 6209, 6299, and 7161 were able to bring home the UIL State Silver Medal.
In 2017-2018, the ViperBots family grew by adding the 8th FTC Team 12596 Copperhead and the 1st FRC Team 6800 Valor. All eight FTC teams advanced to the FTC Regional Championships with and four teams advanced to the Super Regionals in Athens, GA- a feat never accomplished for an organization! 7161 was awarded the Inspire Award, 6209 the Control Award, and 4545 the Promote Award. Brianna Navas was chosen as a Dean’s List Semi-Finalist. At Super Regionals, 6209, 7161, 11503 all advanced to Worlds. 7161 was the Event Winning Captain and 11503 was the Connect Winner. 6800 was awarded the Rookie All Star Award at the Lone Star South Regional and advanced to Worlds! Also Devan Dholakia and Adelaide Johnson were chosen as Dean’s List Finalists. At Worlds, 11503 finished as the 4th seed alliance in the Franklin division and 7161 was part of the Jemison Champion Alliance and made it to the Finals competition in Minute Maid Stadium! A huge accomplishment. 6209 was awarded a Judge’s Award. 6800 was selected to be part of the 8th seed alliance for Carver Division and received the Rookie All Star Award!
The 2018-2019 season was exciting! No expansion but many awards!

2021-2022 - Our 10 FTC teams had an amazing season:
1 student was a FTC Deans List finalist, the highest individual achievement an FTC student can receive in FIRST. 3 students were semifinalists.
16311 Recoil won the Inspire Award at the AML Championships
Regional Advancers won a combined total of 9 awards and were finalists for 7 awards
6210 Stryke advanced to the UIL State Championships
6 teams advanced to the Central Texas Regional Championship
2021-2022 - FRC Valor went to FIRST World Championship and finished as a Semi-Finalist in the Roebling Division . (One point shy of the Record High Competition Score)
Valor took FIRST in Texas/UIL Championship, with Autonomous Award, Winning Alliance Captain, and UIL State Champion.
They placed FIRST in Texas Austin District Meet, with Excellence in Engineering Award, Winning Alliance Captain, and TWO students were Dean’s List Semi-Finalists.
They took FIRST in Texas Dripping Springs District Meet, with Excellence in Engineering Award, and Winning Alliance Captain.
In post-season, Valor competed in the Chezy Champs invitational (in San Jose, California) and finished 3rd overall in qualifications. As Alliance Captain, they made it to the Semi Finals.
Valor also went to the NTX Robotics post-season matches (in Rockwall, Texas) and achieved Alliance Captain, going all the way to the Final.
